British motorcycle maker, Triumph Motorcycles India plans to expand its dealership network by opening three dealerships each at Vijayawada, Goa and Lucknow taking the total dealerships from currently 12 to 15 by December this year.
The company has presence across major cities in India including Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Indore, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kochi.
"We have sold over 2,500 units of superbikes in a span of two years. As we continue to grow in Indian market, we are opening up new dealerships in prospective locations. Our thirteenth dealership will be opened in Vijayawada by May-June this year. We are also planning to open dealerships in Goa and Lucknow by December," Vimal Sumbly, Managing Director, Triumph Motorcycles India told BusinessLine.
According to him, the demand for luxury bikes continue to remain high in India as the market continues to be in the nascent stage. About 35-40 per cent of the total customers of the company have business background.
The company assembles most of its models at CKD facility at Manesar. Triumph Motorcycles has launched 16 models so far in five superbikes categories of Classics, Cruisers, Roadsters, Adventure and Super-sports.
"Our 45-50 per cent of the total sales come from Classics category. Whereas we believe that Adventure category will drive the next level of growth as these bikes are catching up fast among the young bikers and we command about 90-95 per cent market share in this segment," said Sumbly.
Triumph Motorcycles India had recently unveiled the next generation of the iconic Bonneville range at Auto Expo in Delhi and India Bike Week in Goa with great pomp and show.
